Boondi raita recipe, spiced boondi raita
Boondi raita is a very easy raita that you can make for both rice and stuffed parathas. It is very easy and simple to make. Sanvi likes boondi raita so much. You can either make boondi at home or buy it from store. Boondi raita goes well with Pulao and mixed rice varieties. When you sprinkle roasted jeera powder and chilli powder, it would taste divine.
I make boondi raita whenever I have guest at home. They also would like this raita so much. Try it out and you will love it.
Curd/yoghurt – 1 cup
Kara boondi – 1/2 cup
Red chilli powder/milagai podi – 1/4 tsp
Roasted jeera powder or chat masala powder – 1/2 tsp
Pepper powder/milagu podi – 1/2 tsp (optional)
Coriander leaves or mint leaves (chopped finely) – few
Salt – as desired
Whisk the curd well until smooth. Then add the red chilli powder, roasted jeera powder or chat masala powder, pepper powder, boondi and salt. Stir well and then garnish with coriander leaves or mint leaves.
Now, boondi raita is ready! Serve chilled with stuffed parathas or pulao.
- Once you add the boondi, serve immediately if not the boondi will absorb the curd and become soggy.
- You can soak boondi in warm water for 2 minutes and squeeze out the water. Then add the squeezed boondis for raita. This can be done to remove excess oil.
- You can increase or decrease the chilli powder and pepper powder as per your taste.
