Capsicum curry recipe, kodamilagai poriyal, bell pepper masala curry
Capsicum curry recipe – A delicious and tasty curry made with capsicum/bell pepper and is served with Rice and rotis.
Capsicum curry/bell pepper curry is a very simple side dish that I make often at home. All you need is capsicum/bell pepper and some basic spices. I will make it for lunch and have it along with rice. For dinner, I will have the capsicum curry with rotis.

Capsicum/bell pepper/kodamilagai – 1 no.
Onion (chopped) – 1 no.
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
Chilli powder – 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder – 1/2 tsp
Cumin powder/seeraga powder – 1/4 tsp
Pepper powder/milagu powder – 1/4 tsp(optional)
Salt – as required
Oil – 2 tsp
Mustard seeds/kadugu – 1/2 tsp
Urad dal/ulutham paruppu – 1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds/jeeragam – 1/4 tsp
Asafoetida/hing/perungayam – a pinch
Note. The ingredients shown will vary with the original quantity.
1. Heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and let it splutter. Then add urad dal and cumin seeds. Once urad dal turns light brown, add asafoetida and chopped onions. When onions turn transparent, add chopped capsicum.2. When capsicum turns soft, add turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and pepper powder. Mix well and sprinkle water. Let the raw smell of the powders go away. Add salt and cook until capsicum is cooked.
