Carrot Chutney Recipe – A healthy, simple and easy chutney made with carrots that goes well with Dosa, Idly and Tiffin items.
Carrot Chutney is a very simple and nutritious chutney. It goes well with dosa and idli.
If the consistency of the carrot chutney is thick, you can even eat it with rice. I have tried carrot chutney few years back, but we did not like it.
I tried this Carrot Chutney recipe two days back, and we liked it. It definitely pleased out tongues. Hope you all like it too.

Carrots (Washed,Grated) – 2 cups
Tamarind – small lemon-sized
Coriander Seeds – 2 teaspoon
Curry Leaves/Karuvepillai – 1 sprig
Urad Dal – 3 teaspoon
Red Chillies – 6 nos.
Water – as required
Oil – 5 teaspoons
Salt – as required
Oil – 1 teaspoon
Mustard Seeds – 1/2 teaspoon
Urad Dal – 1/2 teaspoon
Curry Leaves – 3 to 4 leaves.
Note. The ingredients shown will vary with the original quantity
1. Heat two teaspoons of oil in a pan, and add urad dal and let it turn golden brown. Then add coriander seeds, curry leaves and red chillies. Saute for two minutes and then set aside. Let it cool down completely. Set it aside.
2. Meantime heat three teaspoons of oil in a pan, and then saute the grated carrots. When the raw smell of the carrots go away and also when it shrinks in size, set aside and cool it down completely. 3. Transfer the roasted coriander seeds, red chillies, curry leaves and carrot to a blender. Grind until smooth. Transfer the ground mixture to the serving bowl. 4. Again heat a teaspoon of oil in a pan. Let the mustard seeds splutter and then add urad dal followed by curry leaves. Pour the seasoning over the chutney.
Now, Carrot Chutney is ready! Serve with dosa and idli.
