Cluster beans is known as kothavarangai in tamil and gawaar in hindi. Cluster beans is a very common vegetable in south india.

Cluster beans/kothavarangai (chopped) – 1.5 cups
Water – 1 cup
Turmeric powder/manjal thool – 1/4 tsp
Chilli powder/milagai thool – 1 tsp
Coconut (grated) – 2 tsp
Salt – as required
Oil – 3 tsp
Mustard seeds/kadugu – 1/4 tsp
Curry leaves – 4 leaves
Note. The ingredients shown will vary with the original quantity.
1. Remove the head and tail of cluster beans. Boil cluster beans in water until they are soft and cooked. 2. Heat oil in a pan. Let the mustard seeds splutter, and then add curry leaves. Now add the cooked cluster beans, turmeric powder, and salt. Stir well and cook for a minute.3. Add chilli powder and stir well. Cook for a minute.4. Lastly, simmer the flame and add grated coconut. Give a quick stir, cook for a minute, and then switch off.Now, cluster beans curry/kothavarangai poriyal is ready!
