Carrot (grated) – 2 cups
Small onion or sambar onion (chopped) – 4 nos.
Green chillies/pachai milagai (chopped) – 4 nos.
Chilli powder/milagai thool – 1/4 tsp
Salt – 1/2 teaspoon
Oil – 3 teaspoon
Mustard seeds/kadugu – 1/4 tsp
Curry leaves/karuvepillai – 4 leaves
Note. The ingredients shown will vary with the original quantity.
1. In a pan, heat oil and let the mustard seeds splutter. Tear the curry leaves and add it along with chopped onion and green chillies. Cook for a minute and then add the grated carrot.
2. After a minute, add chilli powder and salt. Sim the fire and cook for 3 to 4 minutes until the raw smell of carrot goes away. Switch off.Now, grated carrot poriyal is ready! Serve the poriyal with sambar rice and curd rice.
