Homemade mango jam recipe. A healthy and delicious jam made with just three ingredients:ripe mangoes, sugar and lime juice.
Being a lover of mangoes, I have been wanting to make homemade mango jam. I tried mango jam last year but failed to get a bright yellow color which we see in our store bought mango jam.
Growing up, bread toast with mango jam or mixed fruit jam were the ultimate treat for me and my brother. I would spread this golden jam on my toast and have it alongside with an omelette.
Mango jam is thick, sweet, aromatic and full of mango flavor. Until I made this mango jam, I didn’t realize how easy mango jam was to prepare! For this dish to be a success, choose well ripen mangoes.
You can make mango jam in two ways: by adding mango puree or chunks of mangoes. I prefer mango puree because I don’t have to fight with my knife to spread the jam on my toast. If you like to have mango chunks, then follow the same recipe but instead of using mango puree, use mango chunks. Also, mango jam stays good for a week if refrigerated.
If your love for mangoes run deep like me, dip and spoon it out of the jar – I won’t tell. Let’s keep it as a secret. Enjoy!
Ripe mango (roughly chopped) – 1 cup
Sugar – 1/4 cup
Lemon juice – 1 tbsp
1. Peel mango’s skin and roughly chop them into pieces. Transfer them to a blender and grind until smooth. You can have bits and pieces of mango here and there.
2. Transfer the puree to a wide bottomed pan. Add sugar and lime juice and stir well.
3. In medium-low flame, keep stirring for 15 to 20 minutes until the mango mixture starts thickening.
4. Once mango jam turns glossy and reaches the consistency of a jam, switch off. Now, homemade mango jam is ready! Spread it on a bread toast and enjoy.
