Peas pulao recipe is sanvi’s favorite pulao, and she keeps asking me to make it again and again. I guess most of the kids love peas pulao because whenever we have potlucks, peas pulao would be the first item that kids want to taste.
If you have ginger garlic paste in hand, then you can make this pulao very easily. Peas pulao can be made using fresh or frozen peas.
If Gj requests me to make peas pulao for his office party, I would make it happily because it is very easy and simple to make. Even beginners can make this pulao very easily. Try this easy peas pulao and let me know how it came out.
Basmati rice – 1 cup
Peas (fresh) – 1/2 cup
Ginger garlic paste – 1 tbsp
Onions (sliced) – 1 no.
Green chillies (slitted) – 2 nos.
Mint leaves/pudina (chopped) – 1/4 cup (optional)
Water – 1 and 1/2 cups
Salt – to taste
Oil – 1 tbsp
Ghee – 1 tbsp
Cumin seeds/jeera or shahi jeera – 1 tsp
Bay leaf – 1 no.
Cinnamon – 1/2 inch piece
Star anise – 1 no.
Cloves – 2 nos.
Note. The ingredients shown will vary with the original quantity.
1. Soak rice in water for 15 minutes. Meantime, in a pressure cooker, heat oil and ghee. Then add bay leaf, cinnamon, star anise, cloves and cumin seeds. Once cumin seeds splutter, add the sliced onions. When the onions turn transparent, add ginger garlic paste .2. Saute well until the raw smell of ginger garlic paste goes away. Then add mint leaves and green chillies. Saute until the mint leaves shrink in size. Then add peas and salt. Mix well.3. Drain the water and add the rice and stir well. Add water and let it come to a boil. Pressure cook for 3 whistles. Once the pressure releases, fluff the rice with a fork.Peas pulao is ready! Serve hot with gravy or raita.
