Toor dal adai ia very simple and easy to make. I usually make it for breakfast. I try a variety of adai at home, and I like toor dal adai so much. It is one of my family’s favorite adai too. Toor dal adai goes well with any chutney and tiffin sambar.

Parboiled rice/puzhungalarisi – 2 cups
Toor dal/thuvaram paruppu – 1/2 cup
Green chillies – 6 nos.
Coconut (grated) – 3 tbsp
Pepper powder – 1 tsp
Cumin powder/seeraga powder – 1 tsp
Coriander leaves – 2 tbsp
Curry leaves – 2 tbsp
Salt – 1 and 1/2 tsp
Oil – as required
Note. The ingredients shown will vary with the original quantity.
1. Soak rice and toor dal for 2 to 3 hours.
2. In a grinder or mixer, grind all the ingredients coarsely. The batter should be coarse and little thick.
3. Heat dosa pan on medium flame, and take a ladle full of batter and spread it in a circular motion. Drizzle oil on all sides of the adai and close it with a pan. Cook until both sides turn golden brown. Switch off.
Now, toor dal adai is ready! Serve hot with small onion chutney.
